About Me

David Helon spent his early professional career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps serving in Quantico, VA; Okinawa, Japan and Parris Island, SC. His professional focus in the Marine Corps was with computers and telecommunications as well as learning the art of leadership.

After 9 years of military service, he moved into the civilian sector working for U.S. West in Seattle, WA where he spearheaded the implementation of "intelligent routing" for installation and repair telephone technicians while still using the legacy Bellcore workforce, repair and provisioning systems. After almost 3 years in the Emerald City, it was back to his home town of Pittsburgh, PA where he began work at FORE Systems as their Network Engineering Manager within the Customer Support organization. After 3 years at FORE Systems, David joined a Pittsburgh data storage company known as Panasas.

Panasas had built the world's fastest HPC storage with an object-based, distributed, parallel file system on commodity hardware and sold equipment to many Fortune 100 companies around the globe. Early on at Panasas, David began construction of the customer support organization from the ground up and was able to hire an amazing team of talented technical support engineers, analysts and trainers. He also had the pleasure of working with an extremely gifted software engineering team of developers and managers which solved some of the most difficult problems in distributed, cluster computing. Overall, David spent 10 years working to grow Panasas as a company as well as his customer service team into one of the best technical support organizations in the world. He's very proud of the work his team accomplished in the face of highly demanding enterprise customers and cutting edge product design.

Currently, David is the Vice President for Operations at Treatspace, Inc. At Treatspace, he wears many hats: HR, Finance, Engineering, Marketing and of course, Operations. Every day is a new adventure and he is thoroughly enjoying his time helping to build one of the most innovative health IT companies to come out of Pittsburgh in a long time.
